I would like to share a story of Aloha with everyone. Here it is! You all are so wonderful and there are so many helping, I am proud to live here! My story! I must tell everyone something that happened yesterday that truly showed me how some do care and what Aloha is. The Red Cross here helped me so much after the aftermath of Iselle. My husband is on a breathing machine that he must wear at night or he could stop breathing and die. I lost power maybe 5 hours before the storm hit. I was without out power for 8 days. After the storm, the third day without power, I figured that the power would not be on anytime soon and I became very concerned for my husband being without his machine. I called everyone who was part of relief efforts. One special lady named Candy from the Red Cross called and spent a day or two trying to find a generator for us. She never gave up or let up. She spoke to a very special lady at Puna Rentals named Nikki. Nikki left her family and grabbed a generator (the last one) and met me halfway late at night to get that generator to me. Red Cross also footed the bill! How wonderful is that? Well, it gets better! The Red Cross used our story on their website as their success story from Iselle. They came and took pictures and hugged and cried with us! Local news stations also picked up our story and ran it! Well yesterday. A nice gentlemen pulled up to my home and asked for me and my husband. He went to grab a box out of his pick-up. My husband saw what it was and told him, thank you but we have power. We are fine now! He said no, I have the right people! He introduced himself as State Senator Gilbert Kahele from the 1st district in Honolulu HI. He told us that he and United States Senator Brian Schatz from Washington D.C. heard about our story with the RED CROSS and put their funds together and also collected donations from the Iron Workers Local 625 in Waipahu HI and bought what was in the box. He said that he knows we have power but they wanted to make sure that in case of a power outage in the future, my husband would not have to be without his breathing machine again. He and his son unloaded the box and took some pics with my husband and then quietly left. On his way out he yelled back, Keep Aloha Alive! I am so touched and grateful! The item is pictured below!
