I would like to start with an apology for not posting yesterday. We were on the road for 11 hours, and last night I needed to decompress a little. I have a few important issues to discuss, and each one deserves their own post, and time to digest. Yesterday we put Moonie to sleep. After much discussion with the vets at LSU, in Internal Medicine and Oncology, we decided that was the most humane decision to make. The unknown cancer had already invaded his brain, radiation and chemotherapy would make his life more painful and miserable, and the outcome was grim. There was a very slim chance that he would go into remission....and an even slimmer chance he would regain any quality of life. Yesterday, Rhonda and I, bought him a double whopper with cheese and bacon....with fries......and went to him at LSU. We fed him his whopper, which he loved, and then held him until the end. I whispered in his ear what a good dog he was, and told him that Eylsa and many others were waiting for him over the bridge. I let him know that I would see him again, and that I loved him very much. In the end, he fell asleep in my arms. Thank you, everyone, for your kind words and love. Moonie is in a better place now, where he can run and play. I will see him again....and he will be in my heart and thoughts until that day. -Ren
