I would like to update anyone that read my post about the snow - TopicsExpress

I would like to update anyone that read my post about the snow tickets passed out Tuesday night. The city council was already aware that the tickets were a big issue. The mayor stated that they saw the information regarding how many tickets were given was a topic on social media ;) As it turns out I was one of five people that braved the weather to be at the meeting and only one of three that actually addressed the council. I commented my concerns and made suggestions to better define the ordinance as did another gentleman that just moved to Hampton. I described the need of more forms of communication concerning when it was in effect and being enforced besides just local radio (which not a lot listen to). I was received warmly and feel that the council knows Tuesday was an abnormality with such a high number handed out. I feel that they genuinely concerned and want to resolve this issue for all involved, not just us that showed up. The mayor did state that the ordinance needs to be better defined because it creates some confusion as it stands now. He also said it would be unfair to to other portion of the 90 if only some fines were dropped. So at this time they will not be dropping any fines BUT will be addressing it after they review the budget. (That is more important at this time as there is a deadline they need that submitted by.) So if you were ticketed but didnt go to the meeting...dont worry. The issue has been brought to their attention and they know how to get a hold of those that received them when they figure out what they will do about them. I suggest waiting to pay your fine until closer to the end of the 30 days we are given to pay. But dont worry if youve already paid it as the mayor said they would figure that out as well. The next regular council meeting is January 22nd and I plan to attend it to find out the progress and will keep you updated. Thank you all for your support. BTW it felt good to be a part of the local government and I thought it was pretty cool that we recited the pledge of allegiance to start the meeting. #optimistic #hopeful #involved
