I would love to have a dialgue about how we can broaden the conversation about justice to include the greater roots of institutional oppression and other specific movements for justice related to other identities in struggle, while still keeping institutional racism and police militarization at the front of our considerations. As someone interested in seeing this momentum sustained for the good of a movement for a deep and lasting systemic revolution in values and organization, I want to see all this energy stay active beyond the resolution of the problems most pressing and at hand. The same system that kills black men and women deports Latino families after years of making a home, propels the extinction of 200 species a day, shoots and bombs citizens of far off lands, pollutes and controls indigenous lands here and around the globe, fails to protect the rights of the LGBT community to pursue legal partnerships like their hetero peers, values women $.77 on the dollar compared to men, ensures that women and children in Southeast Asia work slave labor jobs to create unnecessary and unsustainable products, and perpetuates a disgusting wealth divide under the guise of private property and its economic justice. There is a lot of work to do for the suffering and struggle of all peoples. Let the echo of #blacklivesmatter be the realization of all marginalized lives not only mattering, but thriving. How can we move from co-opting to co-operating?
