I would replace white with non-black, but this is worth reading and thinking about, especially if you are on the fence about whether systemic racism exists. There are some really important points here that I think are being missed by the mainstream media, such as Michael Brown was a good kid, by accounts of those who knew him during his short life. But that’s not why his death is tragic. His death isn’t tragic because he was a sweet kid on his way to college next week. His death is tragic because he was a human being and his life mattered. Theres some subtlety around #3: I agree that its not a riot, it is by and large a protest, but there is looting happening and it is silly to ignore that - however, almost certainly its the result of a small minority of protestors, though this gives the police/media an easy brush by which to vilify the whole community of protestors.
