I wrote a great letter to the local paper Oct. 21 they apparently did not see fit to print. Too Bad. People need to cut through the crap more than ever! Here it is. Please share. Thanks. Dear Editor, Please let me translate some slogans still in search of results, using the bunk detector I inherited from my ad business family. “More Jobs, Less Government” means “Less service and work as the population increases, with little contribution from those most able to pay.” “Run government like a family or a business” infers “I don’t understand that government by design is for ‘We The People’ because making everything a self-centered entity is all I know.” “Deregulation” equals “Lawlessness” as in “We’ve given up gaming the referees because we’ve made sure there are none.” “Privatization” translates as “Selfishness” as in “we’ll subcontract the peoples’ affairs to hide budget increases by adding a big markup the Public Sector eliminates when they run Public Health, Public Lands, Public Armies, Public Prisons, Public Internet Party Lines, Public Post Offices, Public Banks, Public Utilities and more.” Some things aren’t meant to make money, that’s why they’re Public Service. “Socialist, Socialism etc.” as a put-down infers “Being antisocial is good despite it’s a sign of criminal or sociopaths behavior.” Anti-socialists expect to get away with manipulating, exploiting, or violating the rights of others. Putting people in charge of government who don’t like government is a bad idea for everyone. Voting for those who show no respect for evidence puts superstition and wishful thinking in power. Send tired slogans to pasture. Use “Human Scale for Humanity” and “Restore Public Works”. Vote for Amanda Curtis for one. “One of us representing us.” What a great concept for a country. Sincerely, Doug Wendt
