IBPS Clerk 2014 - 07.12.2014 Evening Session - An Analysis The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducted its first slot of online examination for the recruitment of Clerical Cadre Posts in the Participating Organizations, across the country on December 6, 2014. There were 200 questions in the paper, which had to be answered in 2 hours. There were five sections in all - Reasoning, English Language, Numerical Ability, General Awareness (with special reference to Banking Industry), and Computer Knowledge. All the sections, except English Language, were available bilingually, that is, in both English and Hindi. Each question had 5 options. There was negative marking of one-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to any given question. The pattern of the test was as follows: Section Total Ques Max. A candidate could have easily attempted at least 30 questions. There were questions on Number Sequence, Directions, Coding-Decoding, Seating Arrangement, Syllogism, Analytical Reasoning, Statement-Conclusion and Data Sufficiency. The questions were based on Phrase Replacement, Para Jumble (5 sentence), Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Cloze Test and Reading Comprehension Passage. The questions were easy in nature. The details of the section are as follows: Topic Number of Questions Reading Comprehension 10 Spot the Error 5 Phrase Replacement 5 Fill one word in 2 blanks 5 Para Jumble 5 Cloze Test 10 NUMERICAL ABILITY The questions in this section were of easy to moderate level of difficulty.There were questions from topics like Simplification (Calculation based), Data Interpretation, Simple and Compound Interest, Speed and Distance, Time and Work, Profit and Loss and Number System. The details of the section are as follows: Topic Number of Questions Simplification 10 DI (Pie-chart, Table) 5 Number System 5 Arithmetic (Simple Interest & Compound Interest/Speed & Distance / Time & Work / Profit & Loss) 20 GENERAL AWARENESS (with special reference to Banking Industry) The questions in this section were of easy to moderate level of difficulty. They were based on Banking, Economy and Current Affairs. COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE This section comprised questions of easy to moderate difficulty level. The questions tested candidates basic knowledge of computers. The questions were based on Windows, Microsoft Office, Networking, Hardware and Software. A candidate who has basic knowledge of computers could have easily attempted 30 questions.
