IDEA: Most electric cars use off the shelf regular electric motors. This to me seem like going and buying a 2 or 4 cylinder lawn mower engine then putting it in a car then wondering why id doesnt have the power/fuel efficincy or quietness of a 4 cylinder engine built for the car. Tesla motors made there own engines but there attached to the wheels. imagine how good yer gass milage and things would be if u had tiny gas engines attached to yer wheels with no geear box no differantial etc. On a small scale it works on a large scale it seems silly and wont work for tractor trailers.... My idea is for a new electric engine. You will have to take my word for this but the longer more tubular the engine the more toque is has. the more disc shapped the engine the more RPMS it can attain. My idea in a simple way is to stack a disc on the end of a tube engine then instead of DC electric engines which reliey on rare earth magnets and make free spin all but imposable. You make the engine an AC elecric engine which works like an electromagnet wire and metal only it allows the engine to spin with no resistance when there is no power flowing. Since it is AC it a=can also be set to turn on and off in stages so the torque part can be turned on on takeoff or going uphill giving you pulling power and the disc can be used for speed and maintaining velocity.
