IF MEN GO TO HELL, WHO CARES? LOL, before you think Ive flipped out, that is actually the title of an old hymn taken from a sermon by O.M. Stallings. The song pleas for Christians to start caring about the souls of people as much as God cares about them. It was written by Eugene Monroe Bartlett, Sr., one of the founding fathers of Southern Gospel music. Born on Christmas Eve in 1885, Bartlett dedicated his life to Jesus at an early age. In 1939, at age 54, he suffered a stroke which left him partially paralyzed and unable to perform or travel. He spent the last two years of his life bedridden, but that is when God began using him the most. For it was during this time in his life that he wrote the Victory In Jesus, one of the most beloved hymns of all time. I absolutely LOVE old hymns and If Men Go To Hell, Who Cares? is certainly one to enjoy! While the people of earth are forgetting the Lord and church pews are empty and bare, There comes to my heart these pitiful words, If men go to hell, who cares?
