The word tithe is mentioned only 8 times in the New Testament. 5 of those mentions occur in 1 chapter where Paul is attempting to link Jesus to Melchisidec and is trying to prove Melchisidec was greater than Abraham because Abraham paid tithes to him. 2 of the other 3 mentions of the word tithe are Jesus scolding the Pharisees for paying tithes but leaving more important matters unattended, like caring for the poor. The final instance of the word tithe is from someone attempting to justify his own righteousness claiming to have paid them from his youth. Now compare this with 33 verses wherein believers are admonished to LEARN. Throw in the words study and understand and the wool just might slip from over your eyes. Youve got Pastors who know your annual income but who dont know your birthday or your anniversary... even though they performed the wedding ceremony.
