IF it’s flooded, forget it! Cape York Police are reminding motorists to drive with care on the Peninsula Development Road, in particular issue a warning not to cross flooded creeks, rivers or causeways. At the present time, the Archer River has risen more than two metres over the causeway resulting in the Peninsula Development Road being closed at Archer River. Police expect that the section of road will be closed for several days. On Saturday, January 10, the Archer River was about 8.5meters above the causeway. The road is currently closed into Lockhart River at the Wenlock River, Pascoe River, Browns Creek and Caludie River. Police expect that the areas will remain isolated for a period of time.
