IG pledges to tackle crime as Osun police receive 20 APCs The Inspector- General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar , said on Thursday that the police would not relent in their effort to fight crime. He gave the assurance at the inauguration of 20 Amoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) purchased at the cost of N1.3 billion by the Osun government and presented to the police command in Osogbo. Represented by the Assistant Inspector -General of Police, Zone 11, Mr David Omojola, Abubakar acknowledged the contributions of the governor in combating crime. The governor has directed that the APCs be moved to the state police headquarters for immediate use. Omojola further said: We are very grateful for your efforts at lifting our spirit by providing the Armoured Personnel Carriers. The presentation of the APC is the climax of your practical demonstration and support for security and our effort to fight crime has received a huge boost. Criminals no longer have a hiding place in Osun as we will make everywhere secure.’’ Also speaking, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ibrahim Maishanu, described the gesture by the governor as unprecedented. He assured the governor and residents that the APCs would be put to proper use. In his address, the governor warned criminals to leave the state or face the full wrath of law. According to him, security, safety and the welfare of the people are the primary responsibilities of any government as enshrined in the nations constitution.
