IGNORANCE OF THE WEST…( a satire) Galileo Galilei and Copernicus are credited with discovering the secrets of solar system and proving ptolemy’s model of geocentric solar system wrong. Ptolmey (AD 90-AD 168) had theorized that sun and other celestial bodies orbit around earth. Nicolaus Copernicus ( 1473-1543 ) proved him wrong by giving his theory of heliocentric planetary system in which earth and other planets in the solar system orbit around sun. Galileo Galilei (1564-1642), who was born 150 years after Copernicus supported copernicus’ theory in his book. Galileo paid dearly for his thoughts and actions. He was tried by inquisition on behalf of the church for heresy and sentenced for life for his blasphemous views on solar system. But these westerners did not know that our holy prophet (pbuh) had already revealed the secrets of solar system long before them. If we study quran and ahadith we can summarize the solar system in 4 easy steps. 1-Earth is flat like a carpet, and sun and moon travel in fixed orbits at fixed speed in the sky. (13:02, sura al-anbiya 21:33, sura al-luqman, 31:29, sura al-yaseen 36:40, and sura az-zumar 39:05. 2-Sun rises from the ground in the east. The rising place of the sun is so hot that people living there hide in underground tunnels at sunrise, and come out of tunnels when sun reaches high in the sky ( sura al-kahf-18:90 ). 3-Sun sets in the muddy spring in the west ( sura al-kahf-18:86 ). 4-Sun rests under the throne of Allah during night ( sahih bukhari, vol-4, book-54, hadith-421 ). Our holy prophet even solved the riddle of stars. He told us they are the lamps of lower heaven ( sura-67:05). He also explained that shooting stars (meteriods) are the pieces of hellfire that angles throw at satan when he tries to eavesdrop on Allah. If west had read the wondrous verses of Quran, , and paid attention to Quranic divine revelations, which are full of knowledge, they would have reached other galaxies by now. p.s.
