IM SORRY From Pasuwa DYNAMOS players huddled in prayer after their training session yesterday, and then the first drops of rain fell as if to wash away the memories of their painful recent past for which Kalisto Pasuwa would for the first time issue a public apology. The gaffer, who took his team through tactical drills at Zimphos ahead of Sunday’s Bob90 Super Cup final against Highlanders at Rufaro Stadium, said he was sorry for breaking the hearts of the club’s supporters whose hope of seeing their team reach the Caf Champions League group stages were prematurely stopped in the jungles of the Democratic Republic of Congo last weekend. “On behalf of the whole team I’m very sorry for the disappointment caused by the early exit from the elite league. I know a lot of people were anxious for us to get a good result and advance to the next stage, but it’s very unfortunate that we could not manage to go through.” After his humble summation of the disappointing outing in the African Safari where they fell 1-0 to AS Vita, Pasuwa challenged club officials to confront him if they wanted to take his throne. Since their latest fall, alarm bells have been ringing loud in their camp with a section of the supporters and some of the club’s board of directors reportedly clamouring for the ouster of the record-breaking coach. “There are some people within the club who are going around talking about my position in the media, whether I should go or not, but I don’t think it’s not proper. We should not go around washing our dirty linen in public. If we have issues, we should sit down as a club and see how possible we can solve them other than rushing to the media, I don’t think that’s the professional way of handling such things.” Having been emotionlessly candid, Pasuwa was upbeat about the impending battle against Bosso. He says there are no special plans for Bosso’s talisman Kudakwashe Mahachi. The two have worked together in the Warriors set-up, and they certainly know each other well. “Of course we are ready for the match. We need to win the match because the benefits are good. The prize money is good. We are taking the match seriously and I will field the best possible line-up. Changes will be there in the team, but the bulk of those who played in the Champions League will be involved because they are better conditioned. There are no special plans for Mahachi. He is a good player, very comfortable on the ball, but we are planning to play against Highlanders and not against a particular player,” said Pasuwa. Newsday
