IMAGE MANAGEMENT Did you know that most celebrities and movie stars hire people to manage their public image? What tweets, pics, and posts that are generated are part of a business plan that creates a persona for them. Mileys antics onstage are EXTREMELY INTENTIONAL. While we might judge this as being inauthentic and even immoral, we have to admit that we often do a similar thing if were honest. How many times have we: - put up a post to show what a good friend we are - tried to scoop everyone by putting up news about something first - exaggerated details about an event to make it a bigger deal than it actually was And these might be mild forms compared to what we might do for attention. The apostle Paul has some directed words for us in this regard: Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. (Philippians 2:3 NLT) The main issue at the core of this is IDENTITY. If we NEED the approval of others, then we will seek it out any way possible. I call this the lookit me syndrome - that phrase we would use as kids when we would try to show our parents how high we could swing or how fast we could run saying: LOOKIT ME! The problem comes when we dont settle this issue of WORTH. God has already accepted us. He thinks we are His precious treasures. Once we settle this issue inside, we are freed to shift our focus to helping others on their journeys. TODAY: If you struggle with your worth, ask God to help you REDEFINE exactly who you are. Search scripture for verses on identity. Psalm 139 is a great starting place. Let Him speak into you as His precious child.
