IMMEDIATE NEED FOR SATURDAY, AUGUST 16TH Next week because of In the Streets and street closures, Centennial Memorial Church will NOT host a community meal at 4pm. Saturday at Centennial there were signs up alerting our guests that they would not host and an announcement was made Saturday during service as well. However, there is still a good possibility guests will come Saturday for a meal, and find there is none. The concern for our friends is, with Saturday being the 16th day of the month, funds for many are already getting low and without the meal, there is a possibility some may not have supper Saturday. My family and I will be out of town on vacation, but I did want to share this with you. I am looking for a few who would commit to pack and distribute a brown bag meal and share other avenues for the day with them, for Saturday, August 16th from 4pm – 5pm. You will do this outside, in front of Centennial in order to reach the guests who may come not knowing the meal was canceled. For some this could be their only meal of the day. For others the emotional boost this brown bag will provide could be immeasurable, a gentle reminder to knowing someone cares and has real concern for their basic needs. For all, we trust this simple meal will reach deep in helping our friends know our love and Jesus love for them. If you are willing and available to help in this manner, please let me know by Wednesday morning so I may get with you and the supplies that will be needed.
