IMMERSION – The Harvest West Minneapolis Daily Devotional Wait by Chris Courtney “…with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” - 2 Peter 3:8b (ESV) As Tom Petty once sang, the waiting is the hardest part. And we’re all waiting for something. A prayer to be answered. A need to be met. A friend to be healed. An injustice to be righted. An answer or a sign or something… Waiting on the LORD brings us strength. When we faithfully endure, refusing to be shaken but remaining steadfast in our faith in Jesus, expecting the LORD to work through every facet of life, we find God at work in all situations. Time is no big deal to God. He exists outside of the boundaries that hem us in. God created time. And all of the world, and the universe. And every living, breathing thing. He is not only the Creator, but the Sustainer of all. There are no accidents or mere coincidences. Find great comfort in this. God did not create anything haphazardly. He has a grand plan. Each of us has a part in that plan, but – being merely human – we cannot see His plan in its entirety. We do not need to know everything because we cannot grasp the whole of God’s plan. That is why faith is so vital. God doesn’t tell us to know everything. He says believe. Trust Him. Wait on Him. All things in God’s “time”. STEP OUT CHALLENGE “…they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31, ESV). What are you looking for today? Whatever it is, make sure you are looking first and foremost for the LORD in all things, at all times. And find great strength through your faith in Him.
