IMO RESTORATION 2O15 , A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE MAN OMEZIMBA ZIGGY AZIKE. Chief Chibuzo Nduwueze Ziggy Azike was born on the 19th day of September, 1959 in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, to Chief & Mrs. Ebenezer Uchegbu Azike of Okohia Osu-Owerre in Isiala Mbano L.G.A. of Imo State. He finished his primary education at the Salvation Army School, Surulere Lagos where he sat for and passed the First School Leaving Certificate with Distinction in 1971. Thereafter, he proceeded to St. Gregory’s College, Lagos for his secondary education, from where he obtained the West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1976. Between 1976 and 1978, he was a pioneer student of the Federal School of Arts and Science, Aba, where he obtained 3 A/Level papers, which catapulted him to the University of Nigeria to study law. He graduated in 1982 with a degree in Law (LL.B [Hons], and proceeded to the Nigerian Law School where he earned a call to the Nigerian Bar in 1983. After his call to the Bar in 1983, Chibuzo Azike had his National Youth Service Programme (NYSC) with Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, he was assigned to the Legal Department. At the completion of his NYSC programme in 1984, he was automatically offered employment by the bank for his outstanding performance during his NYSC programme. He rose to become the sole Legal Adviser to the Bank in charge of debt recovery department. He resigned from the Bank in 1989 to go into private legal practice and for this purpose, set up the law firm of CHIBUZO N. ZIGGY AZIKE & CO. before he set up practice he had a two month re-orientation at Onyeabo Obi & Co. Chief Chibuzo N. Ziggy Azike is a prominent and active figure in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). He was a member of the National Executive Committee of the NBA between 1987 and 1992 and also a member of the NBA executive, Lagos Branch from 1993-1996 Ziggy Azike is a member of the Institute of Directors, member Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), and member, International Bar Association (IBA), member Capital Market Solicitors Association, member Maritime Lawyers Association, member Nigeria Britain Association, Life Member Nigeria Society for the Blind, Life Patron Boys Brigade Imo State Patron Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (Catholic Diocese of Okigwe)he is also a member of the body of benchers, Chief Azike belongs to Island Club and Ikoyi Club (1938). Chibuzo Nduwueze Ziggy Azike is a political force to reckon with. In 1998 he was a founding convener of the PDP, Imo State. He had contested for election at various times and was unsuccessful in his bid for the Senate in 1999 and 2003. In 2007 he was the ANPP Governorship Candidate in Imo State, of course you all know that he did not succeed. In recognition of his character and dedication to his nation, Chief Azike was appointed a member of the Presidential Visitation Panel to Federal College of Education Okene in 1999. He was also a member of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the Fire Incident at the Muritala Mohammed Airport (Local Terminal) Ikeja, Lagos. He was appointed by the President as a member of the Bureau for Public Enterprise (BPE) Steering Committee on Pension Reforms which assignment yielded the Pension Commission. He was a delegate to the National Confab Abuja in 2005. Suffice it to say that he acquits himself creditably in each of these assignments. As a lover of humanity, Chief Azike’s exceptional devotion in the service of humanity and God earned him recognition and admission into the Order of Knighthood of Saint Christopher (KSC) in 1995. He was also honoured by his people with the traditional chieftaincy title of Omezimba, Osu-Owerre in Isiala-Mbano L.G.A., Imo State In recognition of his exemplary and diligent service to his community in 1996. He was also conferred with the chieftaincy title of “Nwa-eji amatu” by the people of Okpanam in Delta State in 1999. So many other titles and recognitions have followed this God fearing man, some of these include: a) Ikeoha Assah-Ubirielem(Chief) (b) Omezimba Okatta (Chief) (c) Omezimba Nsu (Chief) (d) Odenigbo Ndigbo Lagos State (Chief) etc (e) Ugoha Nkwesi Kingdom (Chief) (f) 50 Men of Integrity in Corporate Nigeria by Thisday Newspapers (2009) Chief Azike was a member of the Governing Council of Imo State University and a director of several companies. He also sat as a Board Member of the Imo State Council of Arts and Culture 1995 – 1997. In 2007 in consolidation with other law firms Legacy firm Chibuzo N. Ziggy Azike & Co. translated to Adroit Lex & Co. Attorneys At law and Omezimba Ziggy Azike became the Principal Counsel of the Lagos Practice. I am the Principal Counsel Adroit Lex & Co. Abuja Practice. Chibuzo N. Ziggy Azike, Ksc has his late father Chief (Sir) Ebenezer Uchegbu Azike as his character role model and the late Mr. Alao Aka-Bashorun former President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) as his Political/Professional role model, he admires Mandela, Martin Luther King Junior and a host of Nigerian men and women of character and distinction. He practices his late fathers credo of being a contented man who trusts absolutely in God Almighty, Ziggy says “it is still morning on creation day” as he does not feel accomplished at all at all; he believes that his time will come. . my dear good people of imo state,,this is the right man for Douglas house come 2015,,lets all join hands with him and build imo.
