IMPEACHMENT PROCESS IN NIGERIA I never knew that the legislators are so powerful until the recent impeachment of the Governor Nyako of Adamawa state. This is not about whether Nyako is guilty or not guilty. The legislators assumed the role of: (1) the accuser, (2) the prosecutor, and (3) the judge! I am not learned as the lawyers would describe non-lawyers. Does the Nigerian constitution confer on the legislators such absolute powers without checks and balances by the judiciary? If that is the case why should anyone complain or blame any governor or president for closing his eyes to the financial excesses/recklessness of the legislators?
