IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS: Good morning friends, please take note of the following; 1) Travelling to Zimbabwe while waiting for the outcome of the ZSP Application:--there is a need for a Department of Home Affairs circular/memorandum with a clear date for people to come back. That is critical because it will alley the anxiety that people have. We will follow-up with the Department on this. 2) World Social Forum on Migration(WSFM):- from 5-8 December 2014, at Constitutional Hill, Johannesburg, there will be a gathering of different people drawn from all over the world to discuss Migration issues. If you are interested, please check on the comments, people who are involved will guide you. The key person you should interact with is Mr Godfrey Phiri (0787331236). We are glad to say the Migrant Workers Association -SA (MWA-SA) has played a very big role in organising this event. Our Secretary General, Dr V. Sibanda, is the Secretary General of the local organising Committee. Migrants in South Africa and SADC have this opportunity to showcase their contribution(s) to the host countries. It is an opportunity to change perceptions. Key note speaker: Mr Zwelinzima Vavi, Cosatu Secretary General. 3) MWA-SA Annual General meeting:- We shall have our AGM on the 13th of December 2014. Registered members will attend to chart the way forward for the organisation. 4) COSATU Workshop on organising migrant workers: MWA-SA will give the introduction and input at the 2 days workshop organised by COSATU. We have been discussing this workshop for sometime under the Vulnerable Workers Task Team (VWTT). 5) Port of Entry Mobilisation: MWA-SA will run a programme to conscientise migrants about their rights at the Beitbridge and Mozambican boarder posts. We shall also be recruiting members. 6) If you need help with permits issues please contact 0788535353 or 0833485539.
