IMPORTANT DECODER SAFETY INFORMATION Liquids & Spillage Keep Liquids away from DStv decoders and do not put anything on top of the decoder which may spill (E.g: Lit Candles, plants or containers of liquid) Do not use the DStv decoder in Extreme Temperatures and humid conditions. Ventilation It is essential to keep the DStv decoder cool to prolong the hard drive (for pvr’s). Do not block ventilation holes and ensure the free airflow is maintained around the DStv decoder. To ensure adequate ventilation on the decoder, ensure there is at least 10 cm of free space above and to the sides of the decoder. Do not stand the decoder on soft furnishers or carpet. Do not use, or store the DStv decoder near a heater or where it is exposed to direct sunlight. Never stack other electronic equipment on top of, or below the DStv decoder. Cleaning Before cleaning the DStv decoder, first disconnect it from power (The mains). Use a dry cloth to clean the exterior. Servicing/Repairs Never attempt to repair the DStv decoder yourself – or any person who’s not a MultiChoice Technician. You should also never remove the cover of the DStv decoder. Any tampering with the DStv decoder will invalidate the warranty. Refer all servicing to a qualified MultiChoice Agent or Branch. Lightening If the DStv decoder is installed in an area subject to intense lightening activity, protection devices for the power supply unites mains connectors are recommended (Power surge protectors) Hard Disk To avoid possible damage to the internal hard disk, do not pick up or remove the decoder while its connected to the power supply. If you want to remove the Decoder, first stop any recordings in progress, then put the decoder in to standby, and wait for 30 seconds before disconnecting it.
