**IMPORTANT** From the Director Greetings! Just a few thoughts I would like to leave you with on this beautiful Saturday... For all of you who have applied, or been approved to adopt, and are still waiting...we promise, you are not forgotten! We strive to match the right dog with the right family. Sometimes, the dog you apply for is simply not a good fit for your household. It does NOT mean we think you are a bad adopter. Our dogs are not given out on a first come, first serve basis! We carefully evaluate the placements and ask that you trust our experience and judgement. Even if you do not get the dog you applied for, we constantly watch for another Basset to place in your home. We have many adopters who have patiently waited months for the right one to come along. These dogs have, in most cases, lived hellish lives before rescue and rely on us 100% for their well being. Rescue animals come with issues. They have lived in fear, lonliness, starvation, sickness, and abuse. They may have been surrendered by the only family they have ever known. If you are not willing to work with those issues and give them time to adjust, we ask that you please not apply! There is no perfect dog, or person, for that matter. If you expect instant perfection, then believe me when I say that rescue is NOT for you. Also, if you have applied and are missing crucial information from your application, such as vet references, or we cannot get a response from your references, please understand this brings the process to a grinding halt. Applicants who currently own animals and cannot provide a vet reference will instantly be turned down. We take great pains and expense to assure our dogs are healthy and vaccinated. They will NEVER be turned over to an owner who has other animals, and has no vet. If you have questions or concerns, please dont hesitate to contact us. Thats what were here for. Thank you for your understanding and patience. In the end, we all want the same thing...safe, loving homes for these sweet dogs. Enjoy the weekend! Ruth Neunlist-Conn, Director
