IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!!!!!........FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Waukegan, Illinois NOTICE OF VACANCY FOR COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTION COMMISSIONERS FOR LAKE COUNTY Pursuant to legislation approved by the House and Senate and signed into law by Governor Pat Quinn on July 27, 2013, a county board of election commissioners shall be appointed by the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court within 30 days. As a result of this legislation, Chief Judge Fred Foreman therefore announces today that 5 (five) vacancies exist in the newly established county board of election commissioners. Applicants must complete an Appointment Application with attachments thereto and an Authorization for Background Check and meet the criteria established in Public Act 98-0115. Public Act 98-0115 states, in part: “. . . any county with a population of more than 700,000 persons as of the 2010 federal decennial census that borders another state and borders no more than 2 other Illinois counties, shall be subject to a county board of election commissioners beginning 90 days after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 98th General Assembly.” “. . . for any county board of election commissioners . . . within 30 days after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 98th General Assembly, the chief judge of the circuit of the county shall appoint 5 commissioners.” The Application and Authorization forms may be found on the Court’s website at 19thcircuitcourt.state.il.us/BoardOfElectionCommissioners. They also may be -more- obtained in the office of Court Administration located on the first floor of the Courthouse at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, IL 60085.
