The following video is a testimony to the hard work and dedication that YOU have all put in to the project ‘OPERATION LATAKIA FOOD PARCELS’. With the help of God and sheer determination at every aspect of this journey, the AL FATIHA GLOBAL TEAM successfully implemented this food distribution programme that supported over 5000 families in the war torn city of Latakia near the Mediterranean coast to the west of Syria. The video shows the treacherous journey through crumbling mountainous regions with war damaged roads- over a ten day period of delivering around 500 food parcels daily to families from all backgrounds affected by the violence, besieged by limited food supplies & water and living in fear from the daily airstrikes by the Syrian regime. It also highlights the difficulty in travelling with large amounts of aid (sometimes in the pitch black night without electricity or lights on the road) with the very real danger of being targeted and how the distribution is transferred several times from the bigger trucks to the smaller vehicles. In some cases, motor cycles are used to get food to families cut off by small damaged roads, or by those households that have no male breadwinner to collect on their behalf. Distribution is carried out in the utmost of respect for these families- they may have lost their family members, houses, lands and livelihoods but they still maintain their dignity with the most humble of attitudes. We are striving to answer their call again and again, despite the difficulties that come with working in Syria.
