IN GOOD HANDS It is said that the first Queen Elizabeth asked a very rich merchant to go to a remote country on a matter of national business. The merchant rebelled saying that he would lose all his money and business if he made such a journey. To this, the powerful queen replied, You go and look after my business, and I will look after yours. The man then accepted the queens assignment, and when he returned to England he found himself a richer man. The queen had kept her word well and had faithfully taken care of his business. Peter and his fellows had been fishing all night in vain. When the Lord gave the command to Peter to let down the net, the disciple, at first, rebelled. When Peter finally obeyed, he saw a miracle performed and blessings given. Obedience is the beginning of all spiritual blessings. When men obey God regardless of what He asks them to do, blessings come. Blessings reinforce behavior. Therefore, God blesses us when we obey so that behavior will be reinforced, and we will become all He has designed us to be. The Bible says: If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land (Isaiah 1:19). As we understand this great principle, may we pray the simple prayer, Dear Lord, You be the needle and I will be the thread. You go first, and I will follow wherever You may lead.
