IN HEAVENs NAME Everybodys got a holy book, Thats the one they believe is true, Few people care to take a look, At any books that dont reflect their view, Minds grow smaller and so do hearts, Lies are told and suspicion starts, Soon hatred replaces love, Next you hear the skies tearing above. We all want what we want in heavens name, Were all looking for someone else to blame, We teach our children to carry on our game, Tomorrows headlines and yesterdays the same, We pray for peace but hold on to our pride, We take tooth for tooth and eye for eye, Thats the way it is and its a such a shame, But we all want what we want in heavens name. Look at history as it repeats, We never listen and we never learn, This generation has an end to meet, So the next one gets to take their turn, We try to justify our vanity, By calling it religiosity, We take a line or two of sacred writ, Twist it to our will to make it fit. We all want what we want in heavens name, Were all looking for someone else to blame, We teach our children to carry on our game, Tomorrows headlines and yesterdays the same, We pray for peace but hold on to our pride, We take tooth for tooth and eye for eye, Thats the way it is and its a such a shame, But we all want what we want in heavens name. See the bridges burning in the fire, See the children run in fear, See the nations crying, Watch the rockets flying, One bad turn deserves another here, If we want to take the names of gods in vain, The easiest way to do it, Is to let the missiles rain, We all want what we want in heavens name, Were all looking for someone else to blame, We teach our children to carry on our game, Tomorrows headlines and yesterdays the same, We pray for peace but hold on to our pride, We take a tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye, Thats the way it is and its a such a shame, But we all want what we want in heavens name.
