~ IN MEMORY ~ MIA/DEN/LAX DL Res. Manager Mr. Ray W. Mason October 12, 1938 ~ March 6, 2014 Obituary - Ray Mason Ray William Mason, 75, passed away on March 6, 2014 at his home in South Jordan, Utah. Ray was born in Niota, Tennessee on October 12, 1938 to Raymond William Mason and Elsie Ada Louella Clark Mason. He worked on a dairy farm at a young age and regularly throughout his younger years to help provide for his family. He graduated from high school in 1956 and eventually started working for Delta Air Lines in 1965—he stayed with the company for over thirty years. After working for Delta, he moved to Colorado and worked for Convergys Corporation for thirteen years prior to retiring. Ray was known as a hard-working, kind, and selfless person. He was dedicated to his family and to providing them with the guidance and opportunities to live full, meaningful, and righteous lives. He spent a great deal of his life volunteering for service organizations, such as Jaycees, Boy Scouts of America, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served as a high-priest group leader, high councilman, and bishop. Throughout his life, he worked diligently and without complaint to meet the needs of others, placing their needs before his own. Ray always carried a smile; he would regularly go out of his way to help strangers and was always brightening the world with his sweet spirit and relentless optimism. For him, love and service were simply a part of who he was—it was an expression of his character and his love for God. He was and is a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ and an example of compassion, dedication, and love to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father (March 18, 1996), his mother (April 7, 2003), and his son, Marc William Mason (January 13, 1990). He is survived by his wife, Susan Brock Mason, his four children—Laurel Suzanne Schacht, Kari Mason, Susan Elaine Meyers, and Brock Michael Mason—and his five grandchildren—Heather Suzanne Schacht, Tara Emilee Schacht, Braeden Zachary Schacht, Mason Robert Meyers, and Katherine Elaine Meyers. A memorial service will be held in his honor with the viewing beginning at 9 a.m. and the services beginning at 10 a.m. on March 10, 2014; the proceedings will be held at the LDS meetinghouse on 10124 S 1300 W in South Jordan, Utah—all are welcome to attend. He will be interred at Elysian Burial Gardens—1075 E College Street (4580 S) Millcreek, Utah—immediately following the service. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude for all those who have supported them through Rays final days. Your love and concern were greatly needed and deeply appreciated.
