IN SLEEPING ON PARK BENCH WHILE BLACK NEWS: I brought this story to you a few days ago. However, new information is coming to light. Apparently, #DontreHamilton had been approached two previous times on the same day by officers. Each time, the interaction was peaceful and Mr. Hamilton was permitted to stay where he was. This is confirmed by several witnesses in the area. The third and final interaction was with Officer #ChristopherManney. Although Officer Manney claimed he was attacked by Mr. Hamilton (heard that one before), witnesses state they never saw Mr. Hamilton do this or posture himself in a threatening manner. However, Officer Manney fired approximately 13 shots into Mr. Hamilton at close range, killing him. Unlike in previous cases receiving national attention, the #MilwaulkeePD FIRED Officer Manney after conducting an investigation (not the usual pat on the wrist, claims he followed procedure, etc). Now, the family is waiting to hear if the DA will follow-up by filing charges against Officer Manney for bringing about Mr. Hamiltons death.
