From time to time, I come out and disagree with the liberal left wing talking points. This is one of those times. I live in Florida and Im a bus driver. We have many immigrants here from Haiti and Cuba. We have started to have more of them driving buses and taxis here than anyone else. Why? Because they will take any wage. Our wages have stagnated over the years. Companies can pay us low wages here, too low to survive on as your sole income. I have been working here in Florida since the 80s, and since that time, my wage has only gone up by $3. an hour. Now with gas and tolls and food going up and up, it really getting increasingly hard to earn a living at a career I have spent the last 20 years in. And its not only the wage stagnation, but also the hours. They are increasingly asking us to do split shifts as well. Which means we must work a couple of hours in the early hours of the day, leave, and then come back again later in the day. I pay tolls to get to work. I spend 30 minutes to drive to work and another 15 minutes walking in from where we have to park to where we report for work. So split shifts would mean that we would have to be spending 1r and 30 min in the morning and then another hour and 30 min in the evening for our commute. And we cant live closer because it is too expensive to live closer to Disney World. They can do this because there are so many people out there who are clammering to work. My job doesnt require a lot of education or training. Just a good driving record and no record of arrests. So it concerns me when my party and our left wing TV stations are so outwardly backing (it seems) allowing everyone in the world to just come here and get a job. (my job). How would you feel if it were YOUR job? I went to Europe and was not allowed a work VISA there. This is the way it is in most countries in the world. Allowing all immigrants to come here and take jobs is counter productive to people getting a living wage. People made a choice when they came here illegally. There are consequences for choices. Sometimes I feel we on the left forget that. So Im done with my rant for today. I feel that now I will get snapped at and hammered. And some will unfriend me again for not following the liberal litmus test once again. But so be it. It needs to be said.
