INCESSANT BOKO-HARAM ATTACKS ON INNOCENT NIGERIANS-WHAT IS THE SECURITY PROBLEM OF NIGERIA AS A COUNTRY? Commenting on the Boko-Haram attack of military installations on December 2, 2013, one Dr. Ekhomu noted that the current physical security safeguards in Nigeria were ineffective and fresh thinking was required. He added that more risk-based protection system must be evolved in order to thwart future Boko-Haram attacks. He went further to suggest that physical protection has to be put in place to avert or resist attacks. And here we are wasting 43 lives to Boko-Haram terrorists. The count is still on. That the name of former Governor Bonu Sheriff Musa is being mentioned in connection with the recent attack, is suggestive of a strong feeling that many highly placed people in the 3 North-Eastern States of Bornu, Yobe and Adamawa, are Boko-Haram members or sympathisers. I also hold the view that there are violent extremists within the security agencies.. Maybe!. Just maybe! As Boko-Haram continues to spit on the faces of Nigerians, does it mean that the security situation in the country has defied every possible solution? . Does it mean that we are incapable of raising security agencies that can stand up to wash the spitting and shame away from the face of Nigeria as a nation, when we call ourselves giant of Africa?. Is the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, incapable of discharging his responsibility enough to keep the country safe? It was a late President John Kennedy who once said: Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend , oppose any foe in order to assert the survival and success of our liberty What problems do we have as a nation in order to protect our country and assert our survival and liberty?
