INDUSTRIALIZING IMO STATE THROUGH AGRICULTURE; MY CASE: How I wish to have an opportunity to be the governor of my beautiful state, I dont think that I will need to consult an oracle or visit a shrine before I discover how Imo state can be potentially develop and industrialize through agriculture. A trip into our villages especially in Ohaji/Egbema local government will show you how successful any agro based company can be in that area. These areas are blessed with good agricultural products such as palm oil, palm kernel, pinnaple, pawpaw, orange, cassava etc. If our government can attract a juice producing company in Ohaji, that will surely take away a good number of unemployed youths out of the labour market. If one good reason of sitting a company is nearness to raw materials then any agro based Company will find it easy to flourish in Imo state. There are also an already made markets for them. We share common boundaries with Rivers, Abia, Anambra and we can as well capture Delta, Edo, Enugu and Ebonyi. We all know how useful palm oil and palm kernel can be, and we have them in large quantities, all this companies that make use of them can find a suitable home in Imo state, we can as well established modern garri processing plant here in Imo state. One advantage that Imo state will derive from this is that many unemployed youths will go back to agriculture when they are assured that their produce have an already made market. They Government should save us the stress of unemployment by enacting policies that can attract investors into our agricultural sector. Policies like weaver, subsidies, tax reliefs should be invoked to encourage investment in that sector. Government can as well map out hectares of land for small and medium enterprises to establish an agro based production companies in the state. Building of roundabout, squares, putting of streetlights and importing of school uniforms can never bring any meaningful developments to us instead government should through the ministry of agriculture established farm settlements so as to boost our agro production, increase our revenue and reduce our unemployment rate.
