September 2013 from 12.30 h - 15.00 h The event will start with a light lunch. New services and products have been introduced that respond to pressing social demands and at the same time have an added social purpose. In the past years the term “Social Innovation” has been coined for this new conceptual framework of innovations that are social in both their end and their means. With the new EU Programme for Social Change and Innovation the European Commission is also increasingly focusing its resources on Social Innovation and the Social Investment Package highlights the role Social Innovations can play in fostering growth and cohesion. In light of the growing importance of Social Innovation we will take stock of Social Innovation in the Diakonie Deutschlandand other social service providers and present recent findings of the research project INNOSERV, which is providing insight into the future potential of Social Innovation.
