INSIGHT [This INSIGHT is our concluding reflection in the preceding post on GAZWAH AL- BADR AL-KUBRA. We post it separately to emphasize the need to discern the lessons of the victory of the Holy Prophet and see its relevance in our time.] As we remember, reflect on, and re-live in our mind the Great Battle of Badr, let us not lost sight of the current trials faced by the Muslim World. We need to re-examine the reasons for the victory of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and infuse them into our on-going struggle against the forces of evil and tyranny that try to undermine, disintegrate and weaken the Muslim ranks. Our battle now does not only involve physical and material strength. The on-going war is not only fought in the jungles, mountains, plains, deserts and battlefields. There is also the arena of intellectual, spiritual and moral confrontation that is presently shaking the foundations of our faith. When we see Muslims beginning to doubt and abandon their belief and practice of Islam, when we hear them praising the enemies and detractors of their faith, when we observe them preferring other views repugnant to the pristine teachings of the Glorious Qur’an and true spirit of the Message of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), when we see them shedding the blood of their Muslim brothers, when we find them being used by the enemies to destroy the Ummah, our heart bleeds in agony and cries for Allah’s help. Let us look at the Battle of Badr as a reminder that in the long run, Truth will prevail and Islam will be triumphant. This is soon to come for as long as Muslims will have unconditional trust and faith in Allah and His Divine Succor, for as long as they exert every effort they take to seek the pleasure of Allah, for as long as they live according to the teachings of the Glorious Qur’an and follow the model of the Holy Prophet. During this Holy Month of Ramadhan, let us make it a part of our prayer that Allah Almighty grants us the victory and success which He has promised us, both in this world and in the hereafter. Ameen.
