INTACTIVISTS ARE EVERYWHERE. THE U.S. ARMYS ON OUR SIDE... Brother K! GREAT news today! I was telling you about how awful the on-post Army doctors are in general, and in the past few weeks, several of my friends have had incidents where the doctor in the hospital or pediatrics attempted to, or succeeded in, forcefully retracting intact boys. Well, an intactivist friend filed a complaint (which they take very seriously) and she had a wonderful follow up conversation today. This is progress! (This is her post from a minute ago, which she said I could share with you, her name is Brittnee and she will be joining you for a protest later this summer!) ~Brandy Kincaid Ladies, ladies, ladies! I am about to cry tears of joy right now... I just got off of a 30 minute call with Dr. S, the OIC of pediatrics at [local Army Hospital]. After pouring my heart out and giving all the facts I could, he let me know that he completely agrees with me and will ensure all staff members are re-educated on proper intact care. He already pulled Dr.Z [one who lectured about necessity of retracting] in and spoke with her, and will get to L and A [offenders] tomorrow. He is going to check with Urology and see if its easy to find an older, bald doctor to talk to since we couldnt get a name. He said hes passionate about the infinite continuation of education for workers in the medical field, and is concerned that circumcision and proper intact care are things that their staff is not up to date on. He said he is going to get started on new training to implement for all staff to learn that circumcision is a completely elective procedure, that it should not be pushed onto new parents as being routine, and that babies should never be retracted- not even a little bit. OMG. Please, PLEASE let this man follow through. Imagine how many babies this could save. Im feeling like we are making progress here! ~Brittnee Youngs
