INTERACTIVE SESSION ON “HEALTHY LIFE STYLE” IN FROEBEL’S INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL FAISALABAD. PROF AHMED BILAL ENGAGES THE CHILDREN ON HEALTHY FOOD, EXERCISE, MOBILES, COMPUTERS & HAZARDS OF MICRO-WAVES. MESSAGE GOES VERY EFFECTIVELY ON HEART DISEASES, HEPATITIS, DIABETES AND CANCERS. Its matter of great satisfaction that now “health issues” are included in the calendars of various schools & Froebel’s International School is one of those schools. They include ‘healthy life style’ in the syllabus of the children ranging from Nursery to Class 6. Head mistress of Froebel’s International School Faisalabad, Mrs Zainab Zahra is affiliated with eMed for the last 10 years & has worked as Coordinator in Beacon House School & presently is Chief Editor of eMed Newsletter. She is well trained in the health issues of the school going children & has taken marvelous steps in the direction of improving children health. Her school has no canteen within the premises of the school & all the children bring home made food for their lunch. This is something very commendable indeed. On the request of Mrs Zainab Zahra, Prof Ahmed Bilal held a session on healthy life style in the school on Monday, 05.11.2014 and engaged the children in an interaction on all the health issues important to them. He started with the importance of sitting under rising & setting sun (vitamin D) and then covering other important things as importance of milk for the growing children, bad effects of junk foods & soft drinks, importance of exercise, physical activity, effects of increased use of computers, mobiles & micor-waves in our homes & how to wash hands? With simple questions to the children & teachers Prof Ahmed Bilal covered all the common diseases including blood pressure, diabetes, hepatitis, heart diseases & cancers. Children took the messages very clearly & were bent upon conveying all the healthy messages to their friends, family & parents. It was amazing as conveyed by Mrs Zainab that just after school time, she received many messages from the parents that children were insisting to remove micro-waves from the kitchens as they increase the probabilities of various cancers. That’s the wonderful result of educating school going children who spread the message around them very effectively & then insist to implement the messages.
