My sweet baby is already a week old. Ill write up her birth story eventually, but for those that have asked, her birth was entirely and completely different from Harpers. It wasnt easier, in fact, in some ways it was more difficult than I remember it being with Harpers (thank you Lord for our fading memory). But labor was shorter, there werent any breathing issues afterwards, and I had a huge support circle crammed in my bedroom. Really. There were 10 of us and a birth pool. Not to mention those that leant their support via text and phone. It wasnt the redemptive birth I imagined. It was so much better. Ann Crowell, I can never birth without you. Period. Even if its just to pray or finish a stubborn cervical lip, I need you. Malloree Gray, your peaceful and loving presence was felt and certainly what I needed. I heard your voice clearly throughout the process. And thank you for keeping me from becoming a mascara monster. Hannah Carrigan, thank you for keeping the water hot and pouring it over my belly. You dont know the relief you provided and I was very aware of you. JL Shepard Counseling, I love you and am so glad you were there. I really was concerned that you werent going to make it. Jaimee Tuley, yay for finally witnessing birth as it can be! I hope it didnt leave you too scarred ;-) And thanks for taking the video camera; Im stoked at the possibility of having video footage. Amanda Gipson, thank you for your quiet presence and talent. Im already in love with the few images Ive seen. You have a gift. Susan Clark, mom, thank you for just being there. And keeping Harper corralled. Ive heard its hard to watch your baby have a baby, but you never seemed distressed. Mark Massey, thank you. Just thank you. I need you for more than just the counter pressure on my back. Im thankful this one went differently for your sake. And the way in which youve cared for the girls and me this past week is not unnoticed. We are spoiled, no doubt.
