X Yes __ No If not, do you provide reimbursement for parking? __ Yes X No Time Preference: X Part Time 10-20 Hrs/Week __ Full Time __ No Preference Compensation: $12 Per Hour ______ Stipend ______ Other When Available: X Fall X Spring X Summer Job/Project Description: The Southern Arizona Association for the Visually Impaired is creating a diverse and innovative curriculum for teaching English to visually impaired and blind second language learners. We are looking for interns to assist with designing and implementing our curriculum. Interns will gain experience in using and creating adaptive materials for use during instruction. Projects include executing teaching and tutoring plans, helping with the construction or selection of an assessment and evaluation tool for the program, preparing for accreditation evaluation. Interns may be invited to attend conferences that address or provide information about issues that affect the visually impaired and/or their educators. Interns will be required to research a teaching method, an adapted technology or a component thereof; or research a learning style that applies to our learners and create a teaching plan that adheres to our program curriculum requirements. Experience/ Skills Desired: Good classroom management skills, problem-solver, organized, goal oriented, adept in muti-tasking and time management Personality traits the intern should possess- Maturity, enterprising, intuitive, creative, independent, able adapt, take direction and take initiative Training and/or experience the intern should have-Some previous classroom experience with different learner levels is preferred. Student must have constructed and executed applied teaching methods in a classroom setting OR have at least 6 months tutoring experience. Bilingualism and knowledge of braille is also preferred but not required. Please submit two letters of recommendation, two teaching plans and a CV or resume to be considered for the positions. You will be required to obtain an Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card to work as an intern for the Southern Arizona Association for the Visually Impaired.
