****INTRODUCING THE CRUSADER SHIELD OPEN - TopicsExpress

****INTRODUCING THE CRUSADER SHIELD OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP**** Where: Campaign Paintball When: Sunday 20th July 2014 What: 3 man and 5 man Open Championship Cost: £75 for 3 man (just £25 deposit) and £150 for 5 man (just £50 deposit) Background: The first of what will be an annual capped Open Championship event. Sponsors: None. We are deliberately keeping this Championship neutral and entanglement free! Fancy stuff: Therell be a fair bit of shiny razzmatazz added, just for a nice change. Teams will run on to the field to run-on-music and therell be live commentary via a site-wide PA system. Players and Ultimates will be grabbed for quick interviews after the matches and a bar and BBQ will be running all day so players can grab a beer and some decent quality food between matches if that is your bag. Placed over both starting gates will be cameras which will feedback to plasma screens in the main viewing area and during the finals the teams will run on through corridors of smoke, lasers and their own chosen run-on-tune. Itll be free for spectators to come along and watch. A nice summer day out where you can grab a beer and watch the action. The trophies are EPIC!! Engraved Crusader Shields that hang on the wall and are pretty eye catching impressive. The Open format will also throw up some nice surprises - more about that below. Whats the skinny for 3 man? A dedicated 3 man field (i.e. not sharing the 5 man field) which will run concurrently with the 5 man event. Itll be run on an Open format (kinda like the FA Cup - youve no idea who you could draw) which isnt so common nowadays. The Open format allows newer teams to have a crack at the top guys and allows for some giant slaying excitement. The 3 man is designed to be inexpensive, just £25 a head means it costs the same as attending a walk-on or training day. The winners will receive an absolutely amazing engraved Crusader Shield Trophy and will be crowned the inaugural Crusader Shield 3 Man Champions. Whats the skinny for the 5 man? This is going to be different!! For a start, there will be run on music and live commentary via a site wide outdoor PA system. As players come off the field they or the field Ultimate may be grabbed for a quick interview. The format will see teams placed in to groups for the first half of the day. Each group will contain Pro, Inter and Novice teams. So the Novice teams get to have a crack at the Pros and the Pros have to avoid slipping up against minnow opposition. For the afternoon, the teams in each category (Pro, Inter and Novice) will then play in a series of knock out games which will decide the winner in each category. Who you play in the knockouts is determined by your performance in the Open Group stages. This Open format means that teams of mixed abilities will come up against each other in the morning with the potential for some FA Cup style Giant Killings. However, in the afternoon, teams will only play against similar ability teams in the knock outs before we find the Pro, Inter and Novice Crusader Shield Champions 2014. The entire tournament is designed to be inexpensive, high quality and competitive. Slots are deliberately capped to 15 5man teams and 20 3man teams. We will not be breaking the cap. First come first served. You can secure a slot really cheaply via the link below (just 25 quid for 3 man and 50 quid for 5 man). Itll be event paint only with prices starting at the usual £25. The event has been scheduled to avoid clashing with the CPPS so takes place in a month when there is no CPPS taking place. We have opened a Facebook Group to answer any queries which can be found on the link below. So........if you fancy a cheap day out in July at a really high quality tournament with lots of bells and whistles......grab yourself a team slot from as little as 25 quid.
