IRON FIST SQUAD The IFS was out in full force and had a busy weekend. On Friday evening I joined the Squad and during patrols I noticed a few things that clients need to address as a matter of extreme urgency. Firstly, please clean the area inside as well as outside your fence. About a meter on each side will help. Also check your fence regularly for holes where suspects cut through the fence. The grass is so long that it is impossible to see new cuts and even suspects lying in the grass. This not only causes problems for the client, but also for units patrolling as ambushes can easily occur. Also, around your house clean the trees from the bottom up – clean the foliage so that you are able to see someone hiding under the tree. I also noticed that some households do not have any spotlights. On Friday night the squad was very busy with reports about shots being fired in Dorothy Road as well as suspects running from plot to plot. The squad was hot on their tails and chased after one suspect wearing a reflective vest. He disappeared into the veld next to the N14. They also patrolled Sonnedal and surrounding areas and all was quiet. The rest of the weekend went without incident and gave them a chance to do intensive crime prevention operations.
