IS APATHY AFFECTING US? Daniel 1/Revelations 3:14-22 Daniel in Daniel 1 resolved not to defile himself in areas of compromise How devoted are we to principles and the course of action that the Lord reveals in which we are to follow? Standing true to that which God has so revealed and to not compromise regarding convictions which the Holy Spirit has revealed; we thus will have overcoming power and victory. Faithfulness to God and not compromising Daniel found a way to live by God’s standard in a culture that did not honor God using wisdom in all his decisions. We might feel like strangers but we can utilize the principles Daniel applied. Whether a change in living situations, a change in school or going forth into a mission field we need to Be aware of the culture or area Maintain excellent in what we do Have a willing attitude in reaching out to others Pray for God’s help Maintain ones integrity and relationship with the Lord Consider Laodicea of Revelations 3 Laodicea was the wealthiest of the seven cities in Revelations 2 & 3. It was known for its banking industry, manufacturer of wool and a medical school that produced eye salve but the city had a problem with its water supply. At one time an aqueduct was built to bring water to the city from hot springs. By the time the water reached the city it was neither hot nor refreshingly cool. The church had become as bland and lukewarm as the water that came into the city. Lukewarmness can have a disgusting affect with our lifestyle being repugnant in our refusal to stand for anything with indifference leading to idleness. Apathy can cause individuals to become hard hearted and self satisfied. WE NEED CHRIST TO STIR US AFRESH THAT WE WOULD SO RESPOND IN THE AVENUES THAT HE SETS FORTH BEFORE US. What do we ultimately value? Is it that vital relationship with Christ? Does our spiritual desires find its true riches in Christ? Spiritual treasures of divine truth transpire in a right relationship with God with the treasures of His Kingdom righteousness, peace and a sound mind discovering the true wealth of knowing Christ as Lord and as Savior DANIEL STOOD TRUE IN HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD HAVING INTEGREITY TO STAND STEADFAST If we are lukewarm and in a state of indifferent in any area of life we need to seek the Lord to bring restoration and thus renew us afresh. The Holy Spirit is able to reignite a zeal in our heart and life when we allow him to work in our heart. JESUS KNOCKS AT THE DOOR OF OUR HEART but ARE WE OPEN TO GOD’S LASTING OFFER OF TRUE SATISFACTION or are we indifferent and have we begun to shut God out of our life? TO BE CONSTANTLY OPEN TO CHRIST ALLOWING THE HOPE OF TRUE FULFILLMENT TO THUS BE EXPERIENCED IN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM Jesus desires to have fellowship with us but we must be open to Him LISTEN AND SO RESPOND The wounds and disappointments of yesterday we need to release And so experience the reality of His presence anew DANIEL DID NOT COMPROMISE BUT STOOD FAITHFUL WE HAVE THE SAME OPPORTUNITY but IS JESUS BOTH LORD AND SAVIOR We are each called to be a reflection of the Light of Christ that reaches out to extend hope to whosoever would so Believe and thus Enter in BE YE A PARTAKER that like DANIEL we would be a true reflection of that which is intended He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit is saying If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in and eat with him and he with me To him who overcomes I will give the right to sit with me Charlotte…September 1, 2014
