IS IT A CRIME TO BE A NIGERIAN IN SOUTH AFRICA; SOUTH AFRICAN AUTHORITIES ATTACK NIGERIANS OVER SCOAN INCIDENT. On Sunday 21st September 2014 about 19 Nigerians were unlawfully arrested, detained and brutally attacked and injured at Lindela holding facility for immediate deportation stated an eye witness. Mr. Francis (Surname withheld) who was present at the scene informed The Nigerian Voice Newspaper that security officers at Lindela attacked and brutalized Nigerians as a result of the incident that happened in Lagos Nigeria at the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) “Nigerians were detained unlawfully and carried to the Lindela Holding facility for immediate deportation. The security officers at Lindela attacked and brutalized them as a result of discrimination, claiming that their South African brothers and sisters were killed back in Nigeria by Pastor TB Joshua, and that they are doing this as a sort of retaliation. Many were wounded, heads bandaged, gunshot were fired at them and sticks used to break their heads, some faces were smashed on the wall. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon 21st September 2014”. He continued “Those who sustained severe injuries were 19 in number (casualties).Representatives of the Nigerian High Commission, Consulate and Human right were called but they didnt come the same day because it was a weekend but when they came on Monday 22nd of September 2014 they couldnt believe what they saw, they couldnt hold back but burst into tears when they saw how our brothers were maltreated and beaten mercilessly”. The eye witness stated. In a short telephonic interview today on Sunday 28th of September 2014 with one of the representative from the Nigerian Consulate Mr Abubakar who went to the scene of the incident confirmed the incident and stated it was in did a painful and sorrowful sight. According to information reaching The Nigerian Voice Newspaper the Nigerian brothers were supposed to be deported yesterday Saturday the 27th but because the head of Immigration in Lindela tried to withhold them from going home to avoid Nigerians at home seeing them in that condition. He pleaded with the representatives of Nigerian High Commission and consulate office not to take it up while crying to show remorse. “The most astonishing thing about the whole incident was that after the attack by the security officers on Sunday 21st September 2014, the security officers came to their section (section A) the next morning Tuesday 23rd only to start beating them up again, they took them and isolated them in single cell. They deprived them of food and treatment”, Stated Francis. The representatives of The Nigerian Consulate arrived in the afternoon of Tuesday 23rd of September 2014 after the Nigerians were isolated to a single cell and High Commission and Consulate representatives insisted for their release to address the matter. Despite all this no South African media has reported the story. Full Story and pictures coming out in the October 2014 Edition of The Nigerian Voice Newspaper.
