IS MAMA MARIA A SAINT? With tremendous humility, I beg to raise this question on this forum. I had raised in passing in another forum and my attention has been called to it again by a response from one of our brethren Timotheo Atila. From the outset, let me make my position known: SHE IS A SAINT. Here are my reasons: A: Our Prayers 1. We pray saying: IKWANWA WAN JOKETHO…..not IKECHWA, because we know she is a saint. 2. In Confiteor (Ahulora e Nyim Nyasaye…..): we list Mama Maria among the saints saying “Maria Mtakatifu (MTAKATIFU here means SAINT) Bikra mochwere…..etc….Johannes Batista Mtakatifu….Petrus gi Paulus joote Mtakatifu. B. The TRINITY…..I will not oppose it if Legios decide to have FOUR PERSONS IN ONE GOD. I am a liberal. But as things stand, Legios believe in the trinity and that excludes Maria Mtakatifu from the Trinity. We have God the father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. If anyone can explain how Mary can fit into the trinity as God, I am ready to appreciate the idea. C. Traditionally, Legion Maria has not worshipped her as God. We have adored Mary, venerated Mary, and pleaded with her to assist us receive the mercies of her son Jesus/Baba Simeo. Let me hear what my Legion Maria brethren think on this matter. May the glory of Baba Simeo be with you all? Amen.
