IS THIS NOTE REALITY OR FICTION? make a guess; Ill post the answer in 48 hours 19th December, 4:00 pm Hoping to acquire home appliances at fair prices, a group of more than 500 people are watching the IMGEVE shop-located in the city of Limbo-from 8th December; however, at the moment of writing this note, only three people have been served. One of the spokespersons of the people queuing up/watching, Evelia Fayola, said that at first a list was made to have a log of the people waiting. Later, they got in touch with the Regional Coordinator of Just Prices, Aura La Rosa, to ask for help to organise the sale process; however, the Regional Coordinator advised them to leave the premises because the sale of the goods wasn’t going to take place. After the people left, another group came to the store and made a new list, which was then restructured with the first list because the first group had come back to keep their spots. After the problem with the two lists was resolved, they had the final list signed and stamped by captain Rangel, Evelia Fayola said. Despite the existence of the list, people keep hoping to buy two different appliances at fair price. It’s worth mentioning that we did everything in our power to contact the retailer IMGEVE to obtain more information about the situation but it was not possible. According to customers, 6 – 7 lorries arrived to IMGEVE on 8th December laden with stoves, washing machines, bench tops and rangehoods of the Haier brand. Also, it was disclosed that an employee of the business said that more than 1.100 appliances were inside the establishment. Yesterday, after a 10 day queue, and without any good being sold, some officers of the National Guard advised that there were not enough goods to satisfy demand. Elismar Mago, one of the many people who were waiting to be served, said “I have seen officers of the National Guard taking money from family and friends, and, on top of that, they [the store staff] haven’t even started selling to the public and they have already made invoices for some products”. Like Mago, other customers have expressed their discontent regarding this situation, considering that the reason of being of the National Guard is to protect the people not to make fun of citizens and disrespect them. Without a chance to buy: Unfortunately, this country became the country of queues. A citizen who has a 9 – 5 job can’t buy any appliance for sale, since to obtain an appliance of the “My well equipped House” program he or she has to spend at least two days watching the store where the appliances are being sold. Not to mention 4 – 5 hour queues to buy food, toiletries, cleaning products, auto parts, among others. It’s easier to do a list of those products you don’t have to queue up for than one for those you have to.
