ISG Invites Applicants for Sainsbury’s Rhyl, ‘The S Factor’ Challenge Rhyl’s community groups and local charities could be looking forward to a bumper pre-Christmas gift thanks to an ‘S Factor’ challenge being launched by Sainsbury’s and ISG. The contractor is currently carrying out a refurbishment at the Sainsbury’s store in Rhyl and as a way of supporting the local community and providing funds for good causes, Sainsbury’s store and the ISG project team have come together to launch a charitable initiative that will offer £2,500 in cash donations, as well as ‘DIY Angel’ prizes for local community groups, projects, amateur sports teams and charities. Local organisations are being invited to nominate their group, team or charity for the S Factor challenge, which will involve applicants pitching their case for funding to a panel of judges, including representatives from both Sainsbury’s and ISG. With a first prize of £1,000, two runners up donations of £500 each and two third place prizes of £250 each, there is plenty at stake. For those that don’t scoop the cash prizes, there will still be the possibility of winning a DIY Angel prize, which will see ISG’s subcontractors providing free labour and expertise for jobs such as decorating or laying new flooring. Andy Chambers, ISG’s Sainsbury’s account manager, commented: “A major store refurbishment like the Sainsbury’s Rhyl scheme brings significant commercial benefits to the community and improves facilities for local people. Sainsbury’s and ISG believe that it’s also important to give something back to the local community that has been so patient during the improvements to the store, and we believe this will be a fun way of giving local good causes an opportunity to access some additional funding, while sharing their passion about their group, team or charity.” Nomination forms for the S Factor challenge will be available inside the Sainsbury’s store and will require the name of the community group, team or charity and a 200 word summary about what they do and why they deserve to win. The closing date for nominations is Friday 15th November 2013. Completed entries can be handed in at the store or emailed to [email protected]. Entrants will be invited to make their presentations to the judging panel at a special event held on Thursday 21st November 2013, the day after the store re-opens.
