ISRAEL vs HAMAS: Operation Protective Edge; Just Who is right? 1. Whereas Conventional Armed/Defence Forces cannot and never use human beings for target practice; belligerent groups, rebels and terrorists do not see any contradiction in shooting at unarmed human beings and civilian installations for sport and target practice. 2. Terrorists are cowards who cannot engage Conventional Armies in ordeal battles and/or live combat. They prefer to spread fear by launching incendiaries at civilian homes and installations or shooting at unarmed civilians; defenceless women and children. WestGate is still fresh in our memories. 3. If Hamas, their supporters, financiers & accomplices recognized the right of Israel to exist and stopped firing missiles into the territory of Israel there would be instant peace and calm in the Middle East. On the contrary if the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) stopped fighting back, the People, Nation and State of Israel would cease to exist. 4. If a civilian population actively supports; offers accommodation, aid and comfort to belligerent groups; rebels and terrorists, it divests itself of its civilian character and becomes a legitimate military target. Terrorists and rebels will always use such a complicit population as a human shield. 5. Maneuver war; aerial combat, mechanized electronic warfare and long range obliteration of targets will never pacify a belligerent population. Pacification & emancipation of such a population calls for the deployment of ground troops, who must capture, hold and occupy populated territory as Grounds of Tactical Importance (GTI) for as long as it is necessary. It is for the above reasons that I support the People, State and Nation of Israel in the ongoing Operation Protective Edge. I may not agree 100% with their methods or tactics but I stand with them. The operation is rational and legitimate. NB: Engage me from the point of a military legal strategist in this discussion. Emotions & idlealist isms hardly move the world.
