IT IS NOT YET OVER The security challenges facing our dear state and indeed the northeast, as well as the entire north is not yet over. The fact that the rate of attacks has reduce, does not mean that it is over. In the past few days, these agents of destructions had strike more than four times. First it was a village in Hawul local govt called Pela Mbirni, where they killed scores of these villagers as well as burnt down their houses. This village is close to the boundary between Borno and Adamawa state. From the villagers account, these agents of darkness have open a camp in the forest between Pela Mbirni and Ganda village in Gombi local govt in Adamawa state. I was informed that the villagers had reported to the security agencies, but no action has been taken yet. The road linking Maiduguri, Dmboa and Biu has now become a death trap, because these animals are striking at will. I was informed that three days ago they carried out attacks on innocent travelers more than 3 times in a day. Even yesterday they attacked innocent travelers and killed them, and burnt down their vehicles. This is indeed unfortunate, condemnable, and barbaric. We were optimistic that the recent military offensive will finally bring to an end our long time suffering, but the recent attacks have demoralized us all. Though, the military especially those in the field are making a great sacrifice for their fatherland, and we must support them, but certain measures have to be taken to avoid future occurrence of these attacks. Though, am not a military expert, but I believe just like the other time the military lunch an offensive against the insurgents, even this time they only succeeded in driving these beast away from their camps, and they are now regrouping to continue with their onslaughts. I was informed that there are only four check points between Maiduguri and Biu, a road of close to 200km. This is not right; we all know that it is as a result of low military presence that made the people to dessert the villages along that road for the fear of being attacked by the insurgents. The military must comb the forest completely, and search all the villages around the sambisa, and extent the search to the vast bushes around Biu and Hawul local govt. in addition; they should lay more emphasis on intelligence gathering, as well as unraveling the sponsors of these crimes against humanity, and all those who sympathize with them. But then, the problem is that this issue of insecurity is like the more you look, the more you get confused. My reason is that when some villagers were reporting that they have been spotting helicopters landing in the sambisa forest, to bring supplies to the insurgents, some people were saying all sorts of things. But just last two weeks, the Emir of Birnin Gwari said that they have been seeing a helicopter that bring supplies to armed robbers, or cattle rustlers as they are being called in the forest between Kaduna, Zamfara, and Katsina. Just last week, some villagers in Benue, and Nasarawa states had reported that they had also spotted helicopters landing in the forest around them. Yet nobody is saying anything. Isn’t this a kind of conspiracy calculated to destroy the north? Are there any Fulani armed robbers in reality? Don’t you think that it is the same people who are operating in the northeast, who are now dressing like our Fulani brothers to commit all these crime? Why will an armed robber wipe out an entire village just because they want to rub them of their cattle’s? Some of the villages they don’t even have cattle’s. I think it is high time that we realize that we are indeed in a serious crisis across the north and what we need is unity. Our elders, our youths, our women, and our leaders must come to terms with reality that unless we collectively do something, the destruction will continue, and history will always remembers us for our inactions. By now we ought to have finished our lamentations, and take practical steps to address this problem. It is also our hope that the security meetings that our governors are doing in the USA will be one of the steps that will lead to ending all the killings in the north and the country at large. We must support any effort aimed at returning the north to path of peace and development. We must put aside our political interest and work towards achieving peace. We must realize that this is not a religious crisis, but a crisis perpetuated by the enemies of the region for their selfish interest.
