ITS TIME FOR ANOTHER #FunFactsFriday Records indicate that in early 1910, with the citys population now approaching 12,000, Marshal McKamy appeared before the Board of Trustees advising that many complaints had been received concerning automobiles driving over the speed limit ..., and expressed the need for one or two police officers with motorcycles to enforce these laws. The Board gave authorization to add an additional man for motorcycle work. On May 9, Henry Alexander McGregor was hired as the departments first motorcycle officer. He received $90 monthly salary plus an additional $15 per month for fuel and repairs. He had to provide the motorcycle. Later that year, a second motorcycle officer, Thomas Blake, was appointed.
