IT’S ALL ABOUT THE JOURNEY Our life in Christ, relationally, is a great mystery, and in a sense it is easier to live it than explain it - human language is so inadequate when applied to the divine. God is in the business of changing lives, but this particular truth comes prepackaged with a side order of confusion and unpredictability. Life has to be encountered with sheer ignorance and blind faith. Sheer ignorance because one can never know what will happen next. Blind faith because one can never know what God’s intervention will be – only that it will produce good in accordance with His purposes – or when He will intervene, which often is harder on our flesh then what, given His propensity for eleventh hour rescues. Our relationship with God, in Christ, is a process, and God is more concerned with our character moment by moment and how we react to life’s continuing “surprises”, than how quickly we reach some destination milestone. God owns time, and most of the time He doesn’t seem to be in any hurry. Our relationship with God grows through the compounding of reciprocal love, love expressed, love received and love returned. This is true of relationships between people and it is true with our relationship with our Father - it really is more like a love story than anything else.
