IUAA Cross Country Intervarsitys Championships Results: Congratulations to all the WIT athletes that took part in the IUAA intervartitys Cross Country which was held in CIT in Cork on the 8th of march 2014. It was a nice dry day, but conditions on the course were very bad and extremely mucky. It was a very testing course and with the very mucky conditions, WIT had a few injuries on the day. The womens race was first off for the colleges at 1:30 and WIT had 4 ladies in this 5k race. First home for the women was Shannen Ryan. Shannen had a good race and finished up in 26th position in the 5k race with a time of 22:16.Well done again Shannen Orla Mc Philips was the second WIT girl home. Orla finished up in 33rd position with a time of 22:41. Well done again Orla Niamh Tebay then came through for WIT finishing up in 47th position with a time of 24:40. Niamh also flew home from France to run this race and to make up a team. Well done again Niamh Finally, we had Cora Doyle, who was WIT 4th Lady home. Cora Finished in 65th position with a time of 30:12. Cora got sick and all through the race and kept going till the finish. Well done again Cora. We move on to the Mens 8k race, then were WIT had more of a turn out in the Mens race.. The Mens Race was at 3 o clock and conditions by then were even worse. The muck was nearly knee high in some areas of the course. Andrew Connick was the first Man home for WIT. Andrew sat in behind the top 3 men in the race and just left a slight gap open which he couldn’t close down by the end of the race, but Connick ended up in a great position of 4th place with a time of 27:33. Well done Andrew Brian Murphy was WIT Next athlete to come through. Brian ended up in a great position of 21st position with a time of 29:13. Well done Brian Next up was Patrick Hughes, who was WIT 3rd Man home. Patrick finished up in 57th position with a time of 31:37. Well done James Maher then came through as WIT`s 4th man home. James finished up in 62nd Position with a time of 31:54 just behind Brian. Well done James Following this then was Brian Gallagher, who came through as the 5th Man home for WIT. Gallagher finished up in 70th position with a time of 32:28. Well done Brian Shane O`Rahilly was next in line to come through and was WIT`S 6th man home. Shane Finished up right behind Brian in a position in 71 with a time of 32:42. Well done Shane Next up for WIT then was Richard Lucas who was the 7th Man home. Richard finished up in 81st position with a time of 33:52. Well done Richie Stephen Walter then came through for WIT and was the 8th man home. Stephen ended up in a position of 83rd with a time of 34:23. Well done Stephen Next up was Ian Mc Cormack who was WIT`S 9th man home. Ian Finished up in 86th position with a time of 35:21. Well done Ian Last but not least was Richard Bresnan. Richie was the 10th Man home for WIT and he finished up in an overall position of 103 with a time of 39:01. Well done Richard Congratulations again to all athletes who ran very well and but everything they had into the race.
