IVE BEEN TO A MARVELOUS PARTY! Thanks to all who joined us yesterday afternoon in Jefferson Square Park for The Emperors Garden Party! We had about 60 spread across the lawn, including a wonderful mix of older and younger; women and men; families; and steampunks; and from as far north as Davis and as far south as the Los Angeles area. Given our kid focus for this event, it was especially gratifying to have about a dozen kids, who had a blast making their own versions of Emperor Nortons plumed beaver hat, and a babe in arms who was an enthusiastic clapper! Alas, the San Francisco sky didnt grace us with any blue; but the kids hats — colorful contraptions of construction paper, ribbon, streamers, pipe cleaners and glitter glue — more than made up for it. Special thanks to the Emperor (Joseph Amster), the Countess Lola Montez, Kristian Akseth, Sabine Luisi and Alisha Lumea for their powers of proclamation, hat making, story telling and magic — and for being excellent ambassadors in our cause of remembering and appreciating Emperor Norton.
